The Feminista Vocal Club Event was held on 5 Sep 2015 to celebrate the songs and stories (and the power of voice) of the Australian Feminist movement. The event ran over one day and night in the gorgeous locale of Wollemi Common in Colo. Food, campsites and limited bunkhouse accommodation were provided for participants. The plan: to gather feminists together to reminisce, experience, celebrate and share women’s stories and songs of the Australian Feminist movement. We asked feminists who were on the front line in the 70’s-80’s to bring their favourite songs to share and others to bring something in celebration of the movement. A Melbourne contingent worked with Melissa Main (AKA the Musician’s Accomplice) to craft an honour performance that was performed at the event. We made a songbook for participants.
